Sulfates: Is there sulfate in toothpaste? Many toothpastes contain sodium

lauryl sulfate (SLS): This common ingredient creates the foam when you brush but can also irritate sensitive teeth and gums.

Fluoride: Swallowing fluoride toothpaste can lead to fluorosis, which interferes with the development of tooth enamel and can result in white streaks on the teeth, and gastrointestinal problems if the amount is large enough.

Parabens: Parabens are used to preserve the shelf life of a range of cosmetics, including toothpaste. Parabens can disrupt hormone function by mimicking the hormone estrogen.

Formaldehyde: The strangest ingredient in some modern toothpastes is formaldehyde, which is the same substance used to preserve dead bodies.

Triclosan: The antibacterial compound Triclosan has been linked to numerous human health problems. Exposures come mainly by absorption through the skin or through the lining of the mouth.

Propylene Glycol: Propylene glycol is used to smooth out the texture in toothpastes, and it's also used in antifreeze & paints. Not surprisingly, it's linked with skin irritation and organ toxicity.

Diethanolamine (DEA): The diethanolamine (DEA) is found in foaming toothpastes. It is a known hormone disrupter and reacts with other ingredients to form a potential carcinogen called N-nitroso DEA, which is readily absorbed through the skin and has been linked with cancers of the stomach, esophagus, liver, and bladder.

Carrageenan: According to the FDA, carrageenan is considered to be safe for consumption. However, there are some scientific findings that claim carrageenan can cause intestinal inflammation in lab animals. And there are also anecdotal reports from humans who say that they’ve alleviated their digestive issues by removing carrageenan from their diet.

Sodium Saccharin: Sodium saccharin is a chemical derived from coal tar. It is one of five artificial sweeteners approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. You may remember there was concern about saccharin’s safety, but early studies that linked it to cancer in rats were reexamined and found not to translate to cancer risk in humans.

Our toothpaste tablets may look simple from the outside, but they are made from the result of tireless trial and error to get the ‘just-right’ taste and consistency. Our tablets chew easily and tastes refreshingly minty. Our toothpaste tables and mouthwash tables are not chalky nor are they grainy. The taste bursts with flavor leaving your mouth feeling so fresh, so clean. If you’re switching from toothpaste, we bet you’ll find them surprisingly better than regular toothpaste or toothpaste tablets.

Because swallowing fluoride toothpaste can lead to fluorosis, which interferes with the development of tooth enamel and can result in white streaks on the teeth, and gastrointestinal problems if the amount is large enough, Gaiatabs uses

Hydroxyapatite (Nano).  It is a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium apatite.  It is used in our product as a non-toxic fluoride alternative to protect from tooth decay and plaque buildup.

We use recycled paper. The interior biofilm coating is made from non-GMO lactic acid. It’s fully composable.

Gaiatabs Toothpaste Tablets are made in Europe and FDA registered. We meet strict EU health standards.

Currently, just one—mint. But more (including new products) are on the way!

Yes. We don’t use any animal-based ingredients and never, ever test on animals. Gaiatabs is also Leaping Bunny certified.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a fine white powder derived from the fatty acids in coconut oil. It is used in our product to produce a natural and gentle foam that spreads magically throughout your mouth.

Aww, thanks! The best way is to have them fill out the Contact form so we can give them the inside scoop and a free toothpaste tablet sample, or email us at hey@gaiatabs.com

It’s definitely possible, because of the active charcoal combined with other all-natural whitening and stain removal ingredients included in our toothpaste tablets. Gaiatabs polishes your teeth to a high gloss, which greatly increases how much light is reflected. For this reason, teeth appear shinier, like how they look after a polishing at the dentist’s office. Gaiatab’s polishing action also helps remove stains from tea, coffee, red wine and nicotine, making them appear cleaner and whiter.

Everything (except our glass bottles) is biodegradable, just toss it in the garden and watch it go back to Mother Earth. We use waterless, carbon-neutral manufacturing and don’t add any water to our toothpaste tablets.

Gaiatabs will only lose a bit of flavor over time; they do not expire but are best used within the first 1 year of purchase.

Only a trace amount found naturally in mint leaves.
